In May, the restaurant pleaded guilty to conspiracy to misbrand seafood and wire fraud. A co-owner/manager of Mary Mahoney’s, Anthony Charles Cvitanovich, also pleaded guilty to misbranding seafood. The Justice Department said Tuesday that QPS admitted participating in the fish substitution scheme from 2002 through November 2019. An indictment alleged QPS recommended and sold foreign-sourced fish to restaurants as substitutes for local fish that restaurants advertised on menus. The department said QPS also mislabeled imports that it sold to customers at its own retail shop and café. “QPS and company officials went to great lengths in conspiring with others to perpetuate fraud for more than a decade, even after they knew they were under federal investigation,” said Todd Kim, assistant attorney general of the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division.

They just got charged (millions)for selling seafood and fish under misrepresentation the seafood and fish wasn't from the gulf but instead from others sources. This have gotten away with this for years. There are so many legitimate restaurants here on the gulf coast that are actually better restaurants for you to enjoy while visiting the gulf coast. Ate there once and was over price and the food is just so so and way overr rated. So sad.

The atmosphere was very pretty and elegant. It gave off a vibe of an old french mansion or plantation home. The service was great. However the food was not enjoyable. The bread is great, freshly backed and soft with a perfect outter crisp and the crab claws are really good. We had 4 different entrees after and none of us truly enjoyed anything other than the crab claws. Wouldnt eat here again.

Local news reported Seafood scandal . Fraudulently sold local premium seafood, over 29 tons that was not on the menu from 2013 2019. Although, I 've eaten there in 2022 and 2023. I 've changed my food rating to 3 stars. I 've lost trust in their food department and will not recommend this restaurant. Service and location 5 stars.
