Yamas Mediterranean Grill - Bethesda

The food was excellent last year, but this time it was disappointing. The grilled octopus was served cold and burnt.

Nice, neighborhood Greek restaurant. It was very quiet on a Monday evening. The chicken kabob was quite good. The ingredients of my salad were very fresh.

I love this little place. Unpretentious and the food is terrific. The various dips are delicious. If you like octopus, order the warm mezze -we got a whole grilled tentacle, perfectly tender. My only quibble with the food was the wan salad on the cheese-and-olive plate: even in winter, it is possible to get red tomatoes. If pressed, I might say the eggplant salata is zippier at Kapnos Kouzina but here at Yamas, you can have a conversation. Friendly, well-timed service filled out the picture.

The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly and the eggplant/tomato side dish was perfectly spiced! Unfortunately, the fryer broke down while we were there so we couldn't try the feta fries. However, the manager offered any other item on the menu for free as an apology. That's professional hospitality for sure!
