Hotel de France - Bessines-sur-Gartempe

I eat lunch regularly here. It is consistently good and has a menu with several choices. The Bouche a la Reine is amazing, the calfs' mussel delicious and the desserts irresistible. Some days they have a large tray of the terrace that they bring to the table....We are always greeted with a smile and cheerful hello and the service is excellent. Never rushed, and a pleasant atmosphere.

We stopped in this hotel 's restaurant for lunch on December 2, 2013 on our way to Dordogne. Everything went well until my wife having just about finished her (otherwise delicious salad saw with some a live black 2inch slimy crawler emerge out of her last...leaf!.... I asked the server to call her manager to witness the event. She showed up shortly thereafter asking me on a very sharp, unpleasant tone: What 's your problem Sir? To which I replied (stunned by the lady 's aggressive stance was I then responsible for this?? : M 'am, I don 't really have a problem...BUT my wife 's salad sure does.... pointing to the critter... Unfazed by the situation, the lady manager interjected abruptly that we wash all our salads with vinegar here! ... Seeing that her obtuse comment fell flat, she grabbed my wife 's plate and disappeared.... In all fairness, and although we never saw her again, the meal was quite nice (had it not been for this incident and in the end, my wife was not charged for the inhabited salad. I guess it 's another case of The customer is always wrong as often is the case in France....

Restaurant correct. Les plats sont bons La salle est vieillote la patronne est sympathique et bavarde

Arrêt au hasard, à trois, chacun un plat copieux pâtes aux palourdes, duo de saint jacques et lotte et un navarin d'agneau. Entre 15 et 19 € le plat. On s'est régalé malgré une attente un peu longue mais restaurant bondé un 1 mai. Deco tres classique et service de qualité.

Nous faisons deux fois par an la remontée par la route, Sud Ouest vers la région lilloise. Nous nous arrêtons à chaque fois dans ce restaurant. L'accueil est sympathique et la cuisine excellente, avec pour spécialité la viande de bœuf 'limousine". Plat du jour, plats de grand mère, vous trouverez de quoi vous satisfaire. Du côté "café", vous trouverez des spécialités régionales, boissons, sel aux truffes, confitures..à acheter.Arrêtez vous, et vous y reviendrez!
