City Barbeque - Berwyn

Wow! This place is amazing! It's the best BBQ I've had in a long time! I decided to try it out for a birthday dinner (goodbye to my dietary restrictions for the month). Since it just opened, good lunch spots in Cicero are rare, so we made our way to Berwyn. The aroma hits you from a block away! The manager greeted us when we arrived and gave us a quick overview of the ordering process before seemingly vanishing in a cloud of smoke. Being a new establishment, there was no line, so I ordered "The Judge's Sampler," which included half a chicken, pulled pork, cornbread, half a plate of ribs, and two sides for $30. With a drink, it came to $34 (yes, it's a bit pricey, but it’s totally worth it). On average, our plates were around $20, so be prepared to spend when you walk in. The decor follows the typical western theme, with wooden floors and wooden everything. There’s even a huge pig statue near the entrance that really stands out. I loved the selection of about 12-16 different BBQ sauces, ranging from sweet and tangy to classic honey BBQ and even ultra spicy options. Our food arrived quickly—maybe a 5-minute wait—and we were treated to some of the best grilled meats I've had in a while. The moist, sweet cornbread was a delightful surprise. My only complaint was that the Carolina-style ribs weren’t falling off the bone as I’d hoped. Overall, this has become my new spot for lunch and catering. I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

The decor features a classic Western theme with wooden floors, walls, and furniture everywhere. There's a massive pig statue near the entrance that really grabs your attention. To my delight, they offer an endless supply of about 12-16 different BBQ sauces ranging from sweet and tangy to standard honey BBQ to ultra-spicy options. Our food arrived pretty quickly; we only waited about 5 minutes before everything was ready. The meat was incredibly tender and well-cooked, and the moist, sweet cornbread was outstanding. My only complaint was that the Carolina-style ribs weren't as tender as I expected. Overall, this is now my go-to spot for lunch and catering. I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

I’m thrilled to have City Barbecue in Berwyn! This area has been lacking a great BBQ spot, and as someone originally from central Ohio, I’ve always loved City Barbecue. We tried almost everything on the menu, and the brisket is definitely the standout dish. The turkey was surprisingly delicious—better than the chicken and almost rivaling the pork. Everything is slow-smoked on-site daily using hickory, ensuring that it’s always fresh and flavorful. The sauces are quite good overall, and keep in mind that nothing comes pre-sauced. Personally, I loved the Carolina style sauce, but the Bourbon option was tasty as well. I would recommend steering clear of the spicy ginger sauce, though; it feels more appropriate for egg rolls than BBQ.

When I came here with my husband, we were immediately greeted by the nice friendly staff. Ingenious portions love that they sell the meat of the pound and also have sandwiches if you are not too hungry. The even heavy freshly made tea and lemonade is delicious I will be back this is a picture from that after math, was too hungry and food advised and looked delicious to the before.

We visited as a group of six on Nov 14, 2017 and ordered the Motherload. What you see in the photo is what was included for $59.99. The brisket was flavorful, the turkey was moist, the sides were awesome and the service at the table was great (asking if we needed anything, wanted plates cleared away, asking if we needed boxes or lids for things 'to go '. We ended up taking some home and will definitely be returning on a regular basis.
