Schwarzer Adler - Bernau bei Berlin

Came here several times with a relative who is a regular. The dishes were well sized and we'll done. Good traditional german food without being too heavy and with a fine touch. We had fish once which was a tad too bland. I asked for chilli and to my surprise I got fresh chopped chilli from the kitchen. The other day was soft oven baked chicken. It softly melted on my tongue and made me forget to order the chili at all. At all times the service was professional, friendly and attentive.I found the coffee to be too bitter (ordered espesso) and the cappuccino could have done with some barista style to match the class of the restaurant. Can recommend and would return.

We went here over a year ago, had good food with indifferent service. decided to try it again, with success. the food is still good, but this time we lucked out with the waiter, who was friendly and extremely competent. highly recommended.

This is a cosy old house with wonderful game dishes. The wine list is adequate, and the food better than one usually finds outside Berlin proper. The service is, however, somewhat hit or miss, and I am suspicious of any non-star restaurant that refuses to serve tapwater with a wine order. The desserts are also uninspired. But the mains are good.

The place has the look of an classy Country Inn. So we were hoping to find a veal schnitzel or some kind of 'hunters' food. like duck, goose, rabbit, wild boar etc. But the menu is very standard. The waitress didn't return our change. When we asked for it, it took her 5 minutes to "find".
