Hotel Restaurant National - Bern

The reception is in the 1. So climb your way up with all your luggage. The elephant is so old that I don't trust it anymore. The kindness of the personal is medium, in the restaurant quite low and hard. The breakfast buffet is...with not much choice. For smokers no option, they treat you like an alien. You have to stand in cold without cover. The rooms are small, the furniture made cheap, no air conditioning and if you open a window, you will have the very nice sound of heavy traffic. Prices high, but not disturb the room neither the service. Don't come back!

This hotel was booked for me by my hosts. It was not far from the station, which made it comfortable. I just ran over 2-3 blocks. The reception is upstairs, which is not so comfortable, but there is an old elevator. The stew was competent even though my room wasn't ready at 3:00 when I arrived. The hotel is old-fashioned, the room is small, and there is not enough power outlets. Breakfast was O.K., nothing very special, but certainly sufficient.

The menu came with a salad. We weren't even asked what dressing we wanted, there was a bottled French dressing on it with no taste. As a main course I had chosen quinoa with vegetables. The quinoa was still much too moist and the vegetables...tasted like they were overcooked in water. It was ok but not more than that, just filled the empty stomach. My friend had a gulasch with potatoes, the meat was ok, but the potatoes were hardly eatible. The bread on the table was half stale.

The food I had was nice, even if there wasn't v much of it. Service was odd they appeared to only have one menu which got passed around, which is why I eventually gave up waiting for desert.

Das Restaurant ist gut gelegen, im Sommer ist es sehr angenehm draussen unter den Bäumen zu sitzen. Das Essen war gut, aber auch nicht speziell. Leider war die Portion extrem klein.
