Contribuiți la feedbackWho counts the beer, calls the names that came together in a bad way. very free after a quote from the craniche of the ibykus from the princess friedrich von schiller I want to start a small series of reviews about breweries. less about the very large ones that present their products in almost every beverage market of the country, but about small to medium-sized producers who have prescribed themselves to beer production under the new German upper term craft beer, but also quite simply just pils, bright or bock beer. traveled from paderborn to berlin I still stay a little in the capital, there are some remarkable breweries to describe here, whose I could cost. berlin is not exactly homeland for the sachsen, as already described in 1979 by the Leipziger kabarettisten jürgen hard-published secret axes hymn. the most obscure, so the clear majority, you have to be very strong for some lines: but gommdr sachse after berlin da gönn 'se him nich suffer da wollnsem een drieberziehn da wollnse midm schdreiden! and dudmern ooch scheißern be liedchen singr eisern! besides high German . more words were to lose to wear red bears after spreeathen. therefore for the actual purpose of the evaluation, the beer. today I visit virtually, but with the real brown before me, invite a quite great one. this brewing stone brewing gmbh is well known. The German capital is international, so the name of the brewing site is not thrown into the anglizismenpot. especially since there was a good reason to choose an English name: the boss from all over California and started brewing there in 1996 to teach Americans that there are also real beers. he still does it in the usa, in contrast to berlin later more. greg koch, so the man from san diego was called to conquer Europe. where it could succeed better than in a nation of bureaucratic like Germany, and if so, then immediately to the center of the madness. but not into the city center of berlin, but in a former gas plant located far outside in the city part mariendorf. here were invested 25 million euro and in september 2016 opened a modern brewery with a large restaurant and beer garden for up to 1200 guests. beside numerous and various other brands, here of course the self-braute beer is presented, there are exclusively craft beer, four ipas, a pale ale, a pils, an american strong ale and as a reminiscent of the brewing place a berliner white from its own stone brewing production. Brewery and gastronomy are supposed to have run quite well at first, but there were problems from the beginning. the entrepreneur greg koch underestimated the German bureaucracy. new demands, not only for him but also for involved construction companies, caused delays. construction companies temporarily hired the work, so much money was lost. next problem the German beer can be quite happy, but wants to pay as little as possible. here too, koch had expected more and probably the geiz is horny mentality of the German underestimated. I pay for a 0.33l dose best stone beers in charge so around the 2,50 €, turns to a 20s box half liter round 75 euro. if you see that, really no cheaper fun. but it is also not a cheap beer, but one of the best ipas I have tried so far. and besides, you should enjoy this beer, in small quantities, and not to your own bottling. many other manufacturers in the craftbier area call up similar prices and sell their beer. greg cooked it sometime. in digital media, among others, these statements were to be read: the location mariendorf was one of the “weakest and frustrating things” he had ever done and: perhaps this was too big, too brave, too early”. And also said this: Germany has a wonderful brew tradition and an excellent call – and yet this bier culture is ignored by the German super market as far as possible because it is the 08/15. that is actually a tragicody. I can't help but give the californier quite right. after 2 1/2 years greg cook has pulled the tear line and its engagement in berlin largely ended. luck in unhappiness: the entire plant consists of brewery and gastronomy in mariendorf, it could take place smoothly through the brewdog company, a Scottish craftbeer company, and stone brewing is not entirely away from the berliner or German window. some of the sorts are brewdog by kochs specifications further brewed in berlin and sold in Germany, some other sorts exported stone brewing from the central in California to Germany. I have not written much for myself. I can only advise bier lovers: try. which disturbs me a little bit, only metal cans are filled and sold. but there I can take a matching glass and pour the beer, for I find nothing more strange than simmering beer from a tiny opening of a tin can. would also be a pity, because tastefully the ipas are simply pointed. neatly tapped, neatly provided with alcohol, from fruity over slightly bitter to velvety foam in the glass. Conclusion: fine business idea implemented with lots of money. in the end unfortunately failed with the good ideas of human reality. what remains are the excellent beers that are still available in German trade. for beer and the availability 5 stars of me.
2 stars only because of the nice setup (building inside and outside), but that's it! Bad taste of the various beers, good taste of the served food (in VERY small rations) but way too high prices!!!But the worst thing: terrible waiters and bad service!!! Had to wait far too long for ordering and paying. They seem to build on 1-time tourists rather than on frequenters. We will NEVER come back !!!!!!
I had two good beers from a vast beer menu and soup which come in a beer glass which was nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant/pub was good it has a lot of seats. But the price of the beer and food was very expensive compared to other pubs restaurants breweries in Berlin. It's not easy to find. I printed directions from google map but I had to ask for directions. It's a bit of a walk from the u-bahn station.
This brewery was amazing. It was not in down town Berlin but worth the trip. The beer and food was fantastic BUT it's the building you have to see. There are boulders integrated into the floor, dead trees (not sure if there were once real) and places for children to play. You have to see it to understand words, just can't describe this place.
If you like beer, take the time and effort (littre bit out of center but do-able by bike) to visit the Stone Brewing World. Splendid interior! Largest number of beers on tap in Europe. Check their website for special events (p.e. outdoor movie nights in the summer).
