Michelberger Restaurant - Berlin

My husband and I ate here while in Berlin for a long weekend. The restaurant is excellent food, very modern setting without being pretentious. berlin is very casual and cool and the restaurant is the essence of that.The wine was great and beer as always in Berlin is good!Great bar in the hotel too, worth a visit for cocktails and good music.

We went here an evening after a long walk around Berlin. We wanted to just grab something to eat close by, so chose the restaurant that is adjoined with our hotel, since we were so pleased with the hotel in general, we thought this would be a chill nice place to eat. The man that met us in the desk reception was very pleasant and showed us to our table with menus that we could look at. As a hotel restaurant I would imagine that the menus should be easy to read, considering that you would get a lot of foreign guests. But even as an English speaking customer the menus were impossible to really understand , as they just stated the ingredients rather than actually tell what the dish was. So this was our first annoyance. As you usually want to understand and imagine what it is you are ordering rather then order in the blind. But we asked the waiter and he was absolutely very helpful and helped us pick a good wine as well to the food he recommended. As vegetarians there were not really a lot of dishes to choose from, we were recommended to choose 4-5 dishes for the two of us, as it was a sort of sharing tapas-Ish concept. But if I remember correctly there were in total maybe 4 big vegetarian options with 6 smaller snack dishes. We took four of the ones that appealed the rest did not. They sent out the dishes one by one, and every time the waiter that brought the dish told us every bit of information what the dish was. Honestly this was an annoyance, fine if you go to an upscale Michelin star restaurant where the food is an art and it should be an experience. But this is certainly not that, and as the food came out one by one, which we were told was part of the concept, the waiter every time interrupted the conversation that was ongoing. Here is the issue. The whole place comes of as a chill more upscale restaurant. Which is all fine, but it is adjoined with a super nice and chill hotel, you should not make it hard for the guests to eat here . The prices were steep and we left hungry. In my opinion this restaurant should maybe plant it's feet more on the ground. My final impression was much more of hipsters trying out a half developed concept of fancy artsy food, and really failing in the process. I am absolutely staying at the hotel again. But I would never come back to this restaurant.

Het is een hip en trendy restaurant met lange tafels. Het was er heel erg warm en vrij lawaaiig. De prijzen zijn te hoog voor at je krijgt, de wijn is aan de dure kant, de porties zijn klein. Het is een soort vernieuwend tapas restaurant, maar 15 euro voor een formaat voorgerecht vonden wij iets te duur.Het brood kwam samen met ons hoofdgerecht..

Went here for a business dinner. Had some very tasty and great food. It was really a treat! Everything was so well prepared, great taste and perfectly cooked. Very much a restaurant worth visiting!
