Hostaria del Monte Croce - Berlin

A beautiful Italian experience with a great host. The food immediately prepared in the kitchen next door. Will come again if ever in Berlin.

This was a really fantastic experience. It was tricky to find but it's like having your meal in someone's living room. A real trattoria style and excellent values.

We ate at this very hard to find restaurant at the suggestion of a friend who travels to Berlin a lot. We were warned this would be a long dinner, but well worth it. He was right. Eight courses, all the red or white wine you can drink and over a four hour meal, and we loved it. We felt like we were eating somewhere in the Italian countryside at a local village restaurant. The food was good, the wine was very acceptable and the service was efficient but friendly. We were the only tourists in the restaurant and we enjoyed that. We shared a table with a group from various places in Europe and we got to spend some time with them, which was enjoyable. 56 Euros was a steal. Go!

The restaurant is a bit hard to find. It is located in what appears to be an old barn in a dark backyard. Food was great and a 7 course dinner including free flow of white/red wine of decent quality is a bargain. You need to book a table in advance and I think they only have one seating every evening at 1900.Highly recommended!

Food was great as was the service. Our waiter spoke perfect English. I would have given 5 stars but some of the plates and jugs were badly chipped, for 50 plus euro per dinner I expect better. However, it was still a great night and I would highly recommend it. Bring your appetite as there is a lot of good food.
