Sunset - Bergheim

Wir haben hier einen schönen Abend auf der wundervollen Terasse verbracht. Das Essen war wieder einmal toll. Da das Restaurant an einem Golfplatz liegt hat man dort eine tolle Aussicht und herrliche Ruhe. Der Sonntags Brunch ist ebenfalls sehr empfehlenswert.

The Sunset restaurant is located at the Golf club of Bergheim. It's surely a nice place to enjoy a Sunday brunch which is exactly what we did. The restaurant had an offer on Groupon for a brunch for 2 at 35€ instead of 50€ with immediate online booking possible (which is definitely advisable to avoid issues).Anyway, a golf club being quite a fancy place with what I would assume is a demanding clientele, I was expecting a generous brunch buffet and top notch experience.Maybe my expectations were a bit too high. While the location and service were perfectly fine, the buffet itself reminded me of a run-of-the-mill 3* hotel breakfast buffet, at best.The website advertises "live cooking". Whatever that means, there was no such thing and I am pretty sure all the cooking happened in a closed kitchen. Now to be fair, there wasn't much cooking to do as the only prepared items were pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. I went two times to the buffet and each time, something was missing. Maybe there aren't enough guests to justify a larger variety but I still felt a few basics were missing (condiments, fruit salad, yogurts, toast and toaster, etc.).All in all, I would not recommend to go there for brunch if you are going to pay full price. This is simply not worth it. If you have a chance to buy a Groupon voucher or any similar offer, I would be more inclined to recommend the restaurant to give it a try. But don't drive half an hour for it.
