Hallaisen - Bergen

Very weird experience in this 'alternative ' ice cream seller shop. Ice creams seemed and tasted unartisanal. Nearly threw mine to the bin next door. But no good icecream shop in Bergen

This is a small and great ice cream place. Makes ice cream from scratch. Mango sherbet is amazing, earl greay ice cream, yum. Also has great cocktails, amazing ones. Great for the whole family to relax

So we really needed some good ice cream after hiking Ulriken. My fellow reviewers at TripAdvisor really nailed it. This place is good. Not a large variety but the variety hit the spot. Never had Earl Grey ice cream before. Darn good. Only one downside. Not cheap. 40 Krone per scoop.

If you're pining for an ice cream in Bergen, Hallaisen is worth a visit. Its ice cream is of good quality: great flavours and a smooth texture. But do be careful with its hours of operation. During the summer months, its opening hours are dependent on the weather. This shouldn't be too much of an issue (when its warm and sunny, it should be open , but we tried at least once on what we considered to be a warm evening and found it to be closed. As far as I am aware, the weather-dependent hours only apply on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the summer months (why, I am not sure... surely it would make more sense for it to apply during the winter months? . It's also worth noting that they do cocktails and other dessert items using their ice creams, but we did not try those so cannot comment. Of the flavours we had, the Earl Grey flavour was particularly good.

We had three different ice creams today. Coffee, pistachio, and cinnamon. All were delicious, particularly the cinnamon. Can’t recommend it high enough. So friendly and wonderful ice cream!
