Il Pignolo was my favorite neighborhood bar when I spent 3 weeks in Bergamo in May, 2013. Excellent coffee, cheese, and wine, and sometimes live music. The host, Ruggero, has an easy smile and makes sure that his guests feel welcome.
Il Pignolo is a small, but charming place. The owner is really friendly. I ended up there largely by accident for lunch, but ended up staying with a number of people. The wine is good, not expensive, and during happy hour there are free (superb! snacks.
