The Royal Oak - Bere Regis

After the Jubilee event, we stopped by for coffee and decided to have lunch as well. There's hand sanitizer available at the entrance. The place gets quite busy during lunch and dinner, so it's a good idea to book a table in advance if you want a seat. The pub grub menu was diverse and affordable. Our food took a little while to arrive because the kitchen was busy, but we were informed about the wait, so it wasn't a problem. The portions were generous and well-presented. The staff were clean, polite, and friendly. The bar area was neat and tidy. The women's restroom was clean, but it might be challenging for those with disabilities or limited mobility. Overall, I would definitely go back.

On a Friday afternoon, we had to cut our hike short, but it turned out to be a delightful experience. We enjoyed a delicious roasted cheese sandwich accompanied by a fresh salad that included arugula and a lovely homemade coleslaw, plus some delightful Dorset apple cake for dessert. The coffee was excellent, and the service was both friendly and efficient. The pub itself is beautifully decorated, creating a relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely visit again.

During our holiday, we visited this pub on a Sunday afternoon. Although it wasn't particularly busy, we were seated at a lovely table by the window. The bartender promptly took our drink orders, followed a few minutes later by our food orders. Each of us chose different items from the menu. Our food arrived quickly, was hot, and exceeded our expectations in both quality and taste. We all enjoyed our drinks and left feeling very satisfied. I believe the pub recently came under new ownership, and based on our experience, it will be a fantastic addition to the city for both locals and tourists. It was truly a pleasant visit.

Good selection of drinks (and some cocktails). full restaurant service, good menu options (booking recommended) popular among local and visitors alike. the routinely offered garden dishes, which serve a reduced menu with meals in a basket. very enjoyed my jackfruit burger (never heard of it) and really thick chips, none of their fries here. not so sure that I would appreciate to be out in autumn/winter. I would visit again only for the cloby chips, crisp, hot, crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle.

Fantastic food catering for all dietary requirements and lovely friendly staff! There is an extensive gluten free menu for my Dad who is a coeliac, and they were more than happy to provide a vegetarian option for the roast that wasn’t on the menu. The quality of the food was also super! The new furnishings are stylish and contemporary, and a much needed upgrade from the previously tired decor. Really couldn’t fault anything, and look forward to our next visit!
