This place was incredible! Sashimi was so fresh and literally tasted like someone just caught it from the ocean. The salmon teriyaki was also delicious crispy on the outside and flaky in the middle. The mushrooms on the salmon were also very good. I sound like a broken record but every bite was honestly delicious. Highly recommend this spot for the sushi/sashimi lover.
Pretty underwhelmed by my birthday meal here. We found Avenida on TripAdvisor after flubbing the hours of another sushi spot we had our eye on nearby. The reviews looked promising, and the walk was short, so why not! To start: our service was fine. Nothing about the three stars reflects the service, they get 5 stars in my book. The three stars is for the lackluster food. We started with the miso soup and chicken gyoza: simple staples, nothing to write home about. Our main courses were the 24 piece sushi and sashimi tray, and the kimchi wagyu beef. Both a bit of a splurge for us, around €24 each. Both left us completely underwhelmed. The sashimi was watery picking it up with chopsticks was a challenge, as it was slipping and sliding around the plate. The tuna tasted metallic and a bit fishy (but not in the good way! The additional rolls on the plate were rather boring: a veggie shrimp, and a basic salmon rice wrapped in seaweed. Nothing exciting visually, and nothing exciting for the taste buds. But whatever. I 've eaten discount sushi from a shitty grocery store in Philly and been okay with it. This was still passable. But I think we were both let down the most by the wagyu beef. The wagyu was definitely not of quality grade, the portion was impossibly tiny, and it came piled high with fried potatoes (potato chips that tasted like the kitchen had been re using the fryer oil for too long. Bill came out to about €80 total, and I think the fact that it was my special birthday meal made it even harder to swallow this subpar sushi dinner. Anyway, wouldn 't recommend.
Across from the amazing Museu Medeiros Almedia , We never expected to find such a high quality sushi restaurant. With all the local seafood available, sushi is actually a Lisbon natural when you think about it. As my BF who had been to Japan several times) said- the combinations and flavors are unexpected and very, very good.
If you need a change from the local food here in Portugal sushi is always good this place on key
