Umami is my favorite sushi restaurant in Nebraska along with Yoshitomo! I was always wondering why the fish is so fresh here, more so because it's been a challenge for me to find fresh fish in the landlocked state. Turns out the head chef and owner, Keanne (unsure about spelling, apologies) goes to airport twice a week to pick up all the ingredients sent directly from Japan. The price is absolutely beyond reasonable, especially if you order Sushi and Sashimi for Two. Nevertheless, I recommend sitting by the bar and do it omakase style, trying sushi piece by piece made by the head chef. Lovely place, humble and down to business, but just great quality fish. I am glad we have a good sushi restaurant in town.

Absolutely love this place food is amazing, my favorite sushi is the NY roll I like to eat it with their yum yum sauce, and everyone is so kind and friendly. Our first time there the owner stood and had a conversation with us till our food was ready and he gave us a drink while we waited. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great sushi and Asian food. You will be very satisfied. Next time we'll eat inside and I'll take better pictures

As someone who has eaten in dozens of sushi restaurants across five seperate countries, I can say that Umami is hands down the single best sushi restaurant I have been to. The rice is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and that alone made the trip there worth it. Combined with the fresh ingredients, flavorful sauces, and the clear care put into each and every roll, Umami is the perfect place to go for both new and returning enjoyers of sushi. The staff are friendly and sociable, happy to answer questions and are also knowledgeable about the menu. They've been able to flawlessly list the dozen+ types of sushi available in their chef specials upon serving it, each and every time. It's not an exaggeration to say that in terms of quality of food, quality of service, variety of choices, and the relaxed atmosphere, Umami is a restaurant I would encourage anyone finding themselves curious about to give it a try. You won't regret it, unless you're allergic to seafood. But even then, there are many other choices that do not involve fish. There are even vegetarian options, and enough that any veggie lover could feel satisfied with their visit. 10/10
