In an area where there are very few options for nice restaurants this is a very pleasant surprise. Just be aware that they close for dinner on a Sunday night.
Fabulous food in a lovely setting: I felt I was in Michael's front room! I got a warm welcome from Michael and his wife when I popped in to book (or they may have been chuckling at my college French or full motorbike gear on a rather hot day!) and again when four of us arrived a couple of hours later refreshed after a day's touring. It was a quiet evening so we were able to take our time over the menu and had various dishes and wines described to us. This didn't help with making a choice!Michael was hovering in the background ensuring his clients were enjoying their meal - we were, and by the size of his smile he was well pleased. And so he should be. For presentation to portion size right down to the taste there was nothing to find fault with. The only fault was ours; we left it too late in our stay in Bedous to allow for a second visit. Highly recommend Chez Michael if you want excellent food in a comfortable homely setting.
Lovely village restaurant. You have to book to get a table even when its not busy but we went in at lunch time and booked for the same evening so not really a problem. It has a small menu with a set price but every dish was beautifully cooked and tasted great. The owners are really friendly and helpful.
A small restaurant on the main street in Bedous Chez Michel is quiet and friendly. Helpfully they’ve made an English translation on the menu, although it is indicative rather than precise.I suspect most of the ingredients were local, they were certainly of excellent quality. Unlike some “posh” restaurants they don’t see the need to have food representing every letter of the alphabet on your plate. They have just a modest selection, but cooked to perfection using subtle herbs to make each dish special. This doesn’t mean they have minimalist size servings, they’re (just) small enough to leave room for an excellent dessert!Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.
After reading the excellent reviews for Chez Michel my son and I went especially to the restaurant at 7.30pm this evening, 4th September. Four couples were eating there, the rest of the restaurant was empty. We both politely asked (in good French) if we could have a table for two, but we were summarily dismissed and told that only guests staying there could eat there. In the window was a thank-you letter from a family who had visited Bedous in August, looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch; they had enjoyed a wonderful meal Chez Michel. We were so disappointed and can only deter others from visiting Chez Michel and being turned away.
