Melzingah Tap House - Beacon

Food was great and our server was very good. We ate in the outside location because inside was too noisy. Easy recommendation.

The food and the ambiance were fine, but I cannot overlook the unacceptable service at this restaurant. We arrived for lunch at 1:40 pm and did not receive our food until 3 pm, which is completely unacceptable. This long wait was especially difficult with kids in tow. The service was abysmal and I would not recommend this place, especially for families. Do not visit, especially with children.

I had the pleasure of dining at Melzingah Tap House after a long day of hiking in and around Beacon. The staff was very accommodating and attentive throughout the entire meal. The ambiance was excellent, despite it being quite busy for a Wednesday night, we had no trouble getting a table for two without a reservation. We started with the pretzel appetizer which was delicious, especially with the accompanying sauce. My friend enjoyed the pork chop, and I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken and dumplings dish I ordered. The draft beer selection was impressive, and we tried a few local brews, including a fantastic local mead. Overall, I would definitely return to Melzingah Tap House the next time I am in Beacon and would love to try more items from their menu.

We found a great restaurant in Beacon! After a disappointing experience at the Vinyl Room, we were eager to try some good gastropub food. Personally, I was so hungry that I could have eaten a live cow, but our server recommended the burger as a good compromise. The seating was a bit tight and since we hadn't made a reservation, they initially tried to seat us at a small overflow table by the bathroom and kitchen where they were unloading deliveries and folding napkins. Luckily, there were seats available at the bar which we were able to move to instead. The food and drinks were quite good. The burger was delicious and rich, although I would have preferred it cooked medium rare instead of medium well. We also ordered a salad, Brussels sprouts, and a few beers to go with our meal. The smoky old fashioned, smoked with real wood and a blow torch, was a popular choice. The service was decent considering how busy it was on a weekend evening, and all the food arrived within 20 minutes. The prices were a bit high, with the burger costing $21, the chicken sandwich $24, and beers around $10 each - but overall, it was worth it!

Be prepared for a long wait if you choose to dine at this restaurant. My group of six waited 40 minutes after placing our order. The waiter checked on us multiple times during this time, but our food still took a long time to arrive. The guests seated next to us, who came in after us, had already finished their meals and were ready to pay before our food came out. When it finally did, the fries were lukewarm and overcooked. To top it off, a 20% service charge was added to the bill, which felt like a disrespectful way to treat customers. I would have given zero stars, but one star goes to the friendly waiter.
