Great hometown/local place where everybody knows your name . Stopped by on a recommendation of a friend...I was glad I did. Mike offered a full deli luncheon menu. Enjoyed a delicious hearty hamburger cooked to perfection with pork roll, cheddar cheese and raw onion on a fresh seeded Kaiser role. Hope to get back soon to enjoy Jooches other delicacies, great atmosphere and good 'craic ' (as the Irish say).

Old school type of shop has coffee and breakfast though

I 've been passing this iconic neighborhood establishment for many years before I realized it was way more than a candy store. I read somewhere that they actually make an Italian Hot Dog. The only place in Bayonne that makes it. My son has never met an Italian Hot Dog he didn 't like and that streak didn 't end here. A slightly different version to Newark 's. Home Fries instead of Fried Potatoes and Italian Roll instead of Pizza Bread. My son and I walked in and didn 't know what to expect. We were actually a bit intimidated. I mean, this place has been open for over 80 years and assumed it was a Locals Only type joint. In actuality the owner was very welcoming. He spoke to my son and I as we sat at the counter about school and local stuff. I 'm really surprised that this place has no Yelp reviews. Frankly shocked, because Cafe Talya, 2 short blocks away, 200+ reviews and only 6 years old. Jooche 's has been open since 1935, zero Yelp reviews. What?!! I love Yelp, but this seems suspect. Anywho, I hope I get this the ball rolling because I believe Jooche 's deserves way more shine.
