The rice was undercooked and the portions were small and overpriced. The food tasted homemade with low-quality ingredients and lacked culinary skill. I have had better Chinese food from frozen grocery store brands. The decor is bland and the kitchen staff did not appear to be Asian. We will never go back and would recommend saving your money and going to McDonald's instead for better taste and consistency, even if it's not great.
This restaurant offers fantastic Chinese dishes! However, I do not recommend trying their Canadian cuisine. I found the fries to be hard and dry, the fish was overcooked, and the burger was overwhelming. I couldn't even eat the fish and ended up picking out the pieces and burgers that were too tough to chew. I will stick to ordering from the Chinese menu, which is excellent. The staff was also very friendly.
If you're seeking a true taste of Newfoundland hospitality, look elsewhere. The staff here is incredibly rude and the food is subpar. Just take a stroll down the main street and you'll find plenty of other restaurants eager to serve you with much better service.
Great eating, generous portions. always fast and friendly service. one of the best Chinese foods in the opposite.
We had wanted to visit Sun Wui for a while. We thought if we went early in the evening it wouldn 't be as busy as most people around the bay have dinner early and go out shopping afterwards. Well our mistake this time. The restaurant...was busy. It is December and people or companies are celebrating the holidays. There were two large tables being served, one party had 10 and the other had six. I guess the kitchen got slammed with the orders as our soups took almost an hour to come out!!! I had the won ton soup (it was ok) and my DH had the egg drop soup (the broth was very flavorful). Unfortunately underneath the egg was a whole lot of canned mushrooms. My DH hates mushrooms. I offered to change soups with him, but he declined. Usually we eat family style even if there is only the two of us dining. But this time DH wanted the beef lo mein only. I ordered a combo plate. There was enough food on my plate for the two of us. Food was ok. My chicken soo guy had a lightly coloured gravy. Usually chicken soo guy comes with a brown gravy. But it was delish and very crispy. The beef and brocolli was meh. The beef was chewy, not as tender as the beef in the lo mein. The price was good. With two ginger ales, tax and tip it was just over $50. We will give Sun Wui another try (not during holiday time of year).
