Tokyo Cafe - Baton Rouge

We usually take our granddaughter out on Sundays, and this time we decided to try something new—and she absolutely loved it! The food was excellent, and the staff was fantastic. The chef was incredible; he had my granddaughter and everyone else thoroughly entertained! My granddaughter really connected with one of the servers, Anna, who made her experience even more special, especially since it was her birthday week. Anna made sure they sang happy birthday to her and kept interacting with her; they hit it off, and now they’re best friends! The family seated next to us was also wonderful; they were celebrating a birthday too. We will definitely be back!

I've been visiting this restaurant for many years, and I always celebrate my birthday here. However, I was surprised to discover a new policy regarding an extra charge for rice with the hibachi that we were unaware of. When my group and I inquired about it, Mr. Tom became confrontational and walked away from the grill, bringing the waitress over—who was very kind, by the way—to clarify our orders. It was quite embarrassing and took up a lot of our time. His attitude was unnecessary, and I really wish he had managed the situation more professionally. I hope I won’t have to stop coming here because of this experience.

The most concerning issue was when the chef and the waiter got into a heated argument right in front of us, making everyone feel awkward. Additionally, we requested yum yum sauce from the waiter, and when he informed the chef, the chef responded that he would only provide it if we specifically asked for it, yet we never received any. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. To top it off, our soups were served lukewarm, and after someone at the table complained, we were given new bowls of hot soup, but they were only half full.

We have been coming here for years and used to be a favorite. After not eating here for a year or so(no reason in particular) we were in the area and came for dinner. Unfortunately, this place has gone so downhill. The restaurant was so obviously dirty andrundown. Service was good, sushi was good, our entrees were pretty terrible. Food was obviously sitting out for a while andreheated before it got to us. Definitely not worth the high prices. We will not be returning.

I am not a picky person in the slightest bit?..but my hibachi plate to go was awful. The chicken tasted reheated, the veggies tasted like they were cooked in old oil, and the noodles were dry and mushy and all stuck together. There was an overall foulsmell coming from the entire box. When I brought my food back to get a refund, the receptionist was pretty rude. Barely spoke aword even when I said thank you. Boo????????
