The experience was decent overall, but nothing really stood out. The ambiance was lovely. The steak was quite good, but the peppercorn sauce and broccoli were served cold. The service was also a bit slow.

The atmosphere is lovely, and the afternoon tea is delightful. My only critique is that the sandwiches were served very cold, to the point that there was some ice in them. We also asked for a few extra sandwiches, which are usually included with afternoon tea, but we were informed that they would cost £9 each. That felt a bit excessive given that the set already costs £30.

The restaurant gainsborough offers them delicious eating with an excellent relaxing and friendly ambiente, all packed in a quality package good experienceable thanks.

Upon arrival there was no one there to greet us and had to ask reception to find a server. We were shown into a beautiful lounge. Bit of a shame there was no background music just silence. We ordered the traditional afternoon tea for 2, when it was brought out, we were both very underwhelmed by what was put in front of us! Sandwiches- bread wasn’t fresh, some crust left on, we asked for no smoke salmon, as a replacement we just got an extra egg mayo. Overall the sandwiches were very basic and not to the best of quality Cakes and treats- again underwhelming, macaroons seemed like they came out a packet,brownie was dense, and again all seemed very basic considering it’s a 5 star luxury hotel. For £67.00 for afternoon tea at a 5* luxury hotel this is not acceptable. We Would not recommend and won’t be returning for food
