Southside Market Barbeque Bastrop

We enjoyed all our sides, but the beans and coleslaw stood out as exceptionally good. I can already tell that choosing what to eat here will be a tough decision each time we come. I give Southside Market BBQ a solid 5 stars for the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. I also appreciated the Pickle/Onion Bar, the variety of beverage options, and the choice between original and spicy BBQ sauces.

We had already experienced the amazing food during our tasting nearly a year ago, but our guests were blown away. It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce our families from New Jersey, Iowa, and Missouri to authentic Texas BBQ. We served brisket, smoked turkey, lamb ribs, bacon-wrapped sausage, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and potato salad. The lamb ribs were my personal favorite. We didn't have the best experience with our first catering venue (though it was lovely, the staff didn't respond well), but once my husband arranged for a different coordinator, the service improved dramatically. Robert Wells, the catering manager, was enthusiastic and even accommodated our request for specific beers and wines that weren't part of the restaurant's regular offerings. Lynda, the general manager, was also fantastic and very helpful. Robert went above and beyond, bringing me an apron to protect my white outfit, supplying tea and water pitchers that I forgot to order, and even taking some group photos for us. The food, service, and overall experience were outstanding. We will definitely return to Southside BBQ the next time we’re in Bastrop!

As soon as we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. The food was among the top five BBQ spots I've ever tried. I ordered the ranch hand with chopped brisket, and it was an absolute feast. The jalapeño sausage and mac and cheese were both outstanding.

Great Texas Bar BQ came from the first market in Elgin Tx. The same building here in Bastrop, just a little more beautiful. This is classic Texas style meat, beans fixins. If you go eat meat a lot of meat. The only thing they need to work on is to dry the potato salad.

First time to visit the Bastrop location after growing up going to the Elgin location. This is location is great! The ambiance is great and the attention to detail (cleanliness) is a 5+. We met others at this location 11:00 am on Wednesday and spent the next three and a half hours catching up. The brisket is outstanding but the sausage is over the top outstanding. As good as I remember it while growing up. While there I noticed an employee that was one of the best I have ever seen. His name is Noah. Several times he came to the table and asked if there was anything he could do for us and then inquired as to how we were enjoying our meal. He was all smiles and sincere. Even though we were out of the way due to our length of stay he continued to inquire as to how we were doing. After we finished the meal and decided to purchase some additional sausage, he was more than willing to speak to the different types of sausage. He is a model employee, keep him around.
