We visited from California for my wife's neice's wedding in beautiful Salado. We return home today, but one of highlights was enjoying breakfast at Anita's, and especially meeting Roberta, Anita's mother. I'm not going to share the details of our conversation with Roberta, but suffice it to say, Roberta shared some stores from her heart life that made me feel like Anita's was another Texan home away from home. When you're in Bastrop, go meet Roberta, and enjoy their gracious hospitality. It will create a special memory, and if possible lead you to love Texas more than you already do.
Very nice place to dine. Punctual and attentive staff. Very roomy with good decor. The quality of food is superb for what I'd call a Tex-mex meal. Parking: The street parking in downtown Bastrop, TX is skimpy. Tight parallel parking. You may have to make tbe block a few times or walk a dustance. But worth it.
We drove 60 miles to come have a Mothers Day Breakfast, and they did not disappoint. The food was great for my taste. I say that because the menudo was not kick your but spicy like the one in our town. Don 't get me wrong the flavor is good, but so spicy that it 's not enjoyable to eat. Anita 's menudo is So freaking good, from the flavor, to the type of tripe, to the cut of peices, .. Perfection... and the homemade corn tortillas, Yum!!! The Barbacoa was good as well, a little too much grease for my situation, but it still satisfied the craving. (No, I 'm not with child, lol) I recommend ordering the corn tortilla next time. The salsa, chips, Chile con queso were awesome! We 're a big chips salsa critics family. The service was on point quick friendly, I highly recommend this place. Thanks Anita 's for the complimemtry Mothers Day churros and making this a great choice for my Mothers Day meal instead of waiting for hours at a chain restaurant.
First time trying this place and really liked it! A down to earth atmosphere with great food and friendly service. The salsa was medium spice and very good! It wasn’t too crowded midday on a Saturday. When it got a little warm as Texas summer days are known to do, the table next to us asked for the ceiling fan to be put on higher and it helped!
