Max's Drive-Inn Restaurant - Bashaw

Surprisingly good pizza in a small town in central Alberta. Friendly help at the front. I’d recommend extra sauce and extra cheese.

I don't understand why this restaurant was receiving positive reviews for their burgers. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger and my wife had the fish burger, but both were disappointing. The burgers seemed to be of low quality, with frozen patties, canned mushrooms, unrecognizable Swiss cheese, and generic grocery store buns. It was clear that little effort was put into making these burgers taste good. Those who gave this place good reviews must not have had a truly delicious burger before.

Although not a high-end establishment, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and were impressed by the service. The pizza was delightful, with a crust that the owner takes great pride in (as mentioned by his wife). To our surprise, the owner even served our kids ice cream sundaes just for fun, which we all ended up enjoying. The quality of the food was excellent, and we would definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

We have stopped by Max 's a couple of times while driving through Bashaw it is right on the corner of Hiway 21 53 so easy to find. From the outside it does not have great curb appeal , and the drive in sign is a bit mis leading as you can eat in, with great service. There is nothing fancy about the menu a lot of sandwiches, burgers and pizza (and they have soups and salads) but what we have had has been really good (in fact my wife raved about the fries apparently a rival for Costco fries which seem to have achieved a level of reverence to fry fanciers). Take out service appears amazingly quick we watched a trucker pull into the parking lot, walk in, order a burger to go and be back on his way in a few minutes. Pricing is also very reasonable.

We visited this restaurant during noon hour for a quick lunch. The food was quite tasty Waitress was friendly. We recommend this drive-inn for a quick lunch stop.
