Contribuiți la feedbackWhat an incredible little place. Stumbled upon this gem looking for some healthy veggies for lunch. My god the Ensalada verde has to be one of the best salads I've ever had. I wish I was staying in San Jose longer to try more of what they have to offer. They even have a little store in the back. I will definitely come back my next trip here.
What a neat dining experience! They welcomed our reservation of 12, the restaurant is part gallery and super cute with art/paintings everywhere, LGBTQ friendly, meals were delicious with good sized portions, scrumptious looking desserts, vegan options, really friendly and helpful staff, and great service. I had one of the salads, we also got pastas, wraps, mango salad, mushroom sandwich; all tasty. We also tried the passion fruit mousse and it was sooo yummy. We are going to return with our students for dessert!
It’s an incredible feat when a restaurant with over a thousand reviews over the course of a decade is as close to 5 stars across the board as Árbol de Seda is . This special little place has earned it. Like any great venue, the unseen part, where the secrets are, is where success or failure is crafted. This kitchen, helmed by Chef Lelai (really have no idea how to spell their name , has some serious mojo going on. The food is unpretentious and spectacular with an attention to detail that only comes from passion. The stage, where the diners play their parts, is light and airy and quintessentially representative of traditional upscale Escalante houses, where many of the elite of San Jose resided in the mid-twentieth century. Tables and chairs are locally made and are of the typical style (I can’t decide if the tables feel too high or the chairs too low but I’m slowly getting over any qualms I’ve had over this standard . I had the Huarache Huevón with a superb cappuccino. If you’re in the mood for a craft cocktail, the speakeasy has astrologically inspired concoctions. If you’re like me and chef’s wife Jazz you’ll go for something with mezcal and activated charcoal served shaken in a coupe. Árbol de Seda is a happy place with an excellent staff. It is not to be overlooked.
The food was awesome! Papas Supremas was one of the best things I've eaten in a while! Loved the vibe of this place and that it was very pro-women rights! A great option in the Barrio Escalante neighboorhood!
If you enjoy vegetarian/vegan food this wonderful restaurant is a must! The food is suuuuper tasty, the ambience is relaxed, stylish and friendly. The staff are great people as well. We had a perfect evening!
