Cal #039;s Bakery Cafe - Barrie

I came across this gluten-free bakery while heading to the beach, and as someone who isn't from the area, I was thrilled to discover a spot dedicated to gluten-free treats. We were excited and ready to fill our two large coolers with goodies. However, our spirits were quickly dampened when a man shouted at us to leave, insisting that they weren't open yet. We were extremely disappointed, and this experience has left a bad impression. Even if their products are good, I can't recommend this place due to the poor customer service we encountered. It really put a damper on our trip.

First of all, the staff is amazing—super friendly and knowledgeable. The carrot cake is hands down the best gluten-free dessert I've ever tasted, and you wouldn't even realize it's gluten-free! I also tried the bread and calzones, both of which were fantastic. You really can't tell they're gluten-free; everything was just incredible!

I thought it was plain, baland, and over prized food. Crumbles were too sweet, and you could taste the glandular white sugar, so it was not cooked. Pizza was as thin as paper and just meh. Panzarotti did not have enough sauce and was soggy and just meh, too. Will not go out of my way to eat here again.

I haven’t tried the pierogi yet (I still can’t believe I have some in my freezer) but the cinnamon bun and pumpernickel could pass for not gluten free.And the service is extraordinary.

The absolute best gluten free bread I've ever tasted. The folks were kind and helpful on my way with a real bagel breakfast sandwich. There needs to be more than five stars!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, celiac safe.
