The kitchen did not meet expectations for a must-visit spot for food enthusiasts in Pembrokeshire. My wife enjoyed her starter, but the portion of 3 king prawns served with stale bread for £15 was disappointing. My fish soup, priced at £14, tasted mostly of tomatoes with a lack of fish flavor and no visible seafood. The fish and chips main course was enjoyable for my wife at £19, but the tartare sauce was thin and acidic. The Jack Dory was fresh but overcooked and dry, with bland sides that did not live up to expectations. While I understand the cost of quality ingredients, the execution of the dishes did not justify the high prices. I would like to return due to the great potential of the location, but the kitchen's performance was lacking during this visit.
Booked a table to eat for a Saturday evening. The website was complicated to use in the first place. We ordered a cheese burger and a haloumi burger it was possibly the worse meal we have ever eaten out, £12.00 each for basically a burger in a bun with chips shoved on the side, the haloumi burger was two pieces of cheese in a bun NO burger. Didn’t feel comfortable as social distancing was non existent outside with people swapping from table to table. We will not be visiting again.
Today I could not stay in this restaurant. The staff wearing latex gloves to serve, take money, and move on to the next customer did not seem helpful to me. I believe washing hands and using hand sanitizer between customers is far more hygienic. However, using gloves for removing used glasses and plates would be perfectly acceptable. Overall, this practice was not for me.
Great food and good prices. Staff was very friendly and food came quick. The jerk burger is very tasty though a little spicy. The squid ink batter fish n chips was quite tasty.
The menu shows great potential under the new management team at this restaurant, but there are some kinks that need to be worked out. I ordered the kale mushroom pie with mash, while my friend had a burger and chips. Despite ordering at 12:45, our food didn't arrive until 1:45, even though the pub was quite empty. My meal was tasty, especially once I added gravy for some extra moisture. However, the mash was a let down - it lacked flavor and had a sticky, starchy consistency that was disappointing. My friend's burger was decent, but the chef had gone overboard with salt on the chips, making them too salty. Potential customers might prefer to add salt themselves rather than having it already added to their food. Despite these issues, I would be willing to give this place another try, as I believe they are still working out some initial problems. I am looking forward to the music programme and new quiz they have planned.
