The Good Earth - Barnet

Very disappointing. Went there years ago so decided to visit this high end Chinese restaurant for our wedding anniversary. Very different very bright lights, too many tables packed into a smallish area no ambience. Hubby and I couldn’t hear each other across the table as it was so noisy. Service and food was good but at £141 for a meal for 2 it should be. Won’t be going back.

My spouse and I were looking for a quick and tasty lunch on Wednesday, so we decided to visit Good Earth, a restaurant we had enjoyed in the past. We were surprised by the high prices of the main courses, all exceeding £20, but decided to give it a try in hopes of receiving high-quality food. We ordered starters and a shared main dish. The spring rolls and crab and sweet corn soup were ordinary and lacking in flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was not worth the high price of £23.80 and the noodles were also disappointing at £9.80. The fruit served with the main dish was bland and unidentifiable. The overall unsatisfactory meal cost us £63.00, and we felt that the increase in prices did not match the decrease in quality and value. However, the service was excellent, with attentive staff who helped my disabled wife navigate the entrance steps. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience at Good Earth.

Although the service at this restaurant was excellent, the quality of the food was disappointing and the prices were extremely high. I don't mind spending money for a fantastic dining experience, but our group of four couples left feeling like we had been ripped off. The portion sizes were small, the food didn't taste very fresh, and it is worth mentioning that there are no accessible restroom facilities on the main floor, which was a major inconvenience for one member of our party.

Beautiful food, prompt, attentive and very friendly service. Piping got food, clearly freshly cooked. Amazing flavours. Loved our trip for my birthday and will definitely go back

The place was very busy on this weekend visit. It has remained at the very expensive end of the pricing scale but it is clearly successful such that they can be inflexible over requests for minor menu deviations. But the food is very good, so that overall it rates as Very Good
