Shapla Tandoori - Barnet

Been a regular for a number of years and have ordered, perhaps very boringly, the same meal every time. The price has always slightly varied, which has never been a massive issue as the quality was always brilliant. However, delivery drivers always ask whether there’s a tip for them, despite a delivery fee always being included. After a recent order, where the driver quite rudely asked if I wanted change, I noticed that items were missing from my order. After calling the resturant to inform them of this, they called me back and said they weren’t going to come back out and deliver the remainder of my order despite the fact I’d paid for the food, a delivery fee and tipped the delivery driver. I was then told that they’d give me a bit extra next time, but that they were unable to send me an email, or give me any confirmation that would be the case. I just needed to mention it when I next rang. I asked to be refunded for the items I didn’t receive and was greeted with “for god sake” I won’t be ordering from them again as a result.

Had a lovely birthday treat with the Mister at this restaurant. The service was very efficient and personal and the food was very delicious. I had chicken korma and my partner had the fish curry. Both very tasty. Highly recommend.

Been going to the shapla my whole life (29 years). Always consistent and BEST mint sauce. Staff are lovely too.

To start, my bottle of coke was flat. When I looked at the date on the bottle, it had expired in March 2022. The vegetable balti was not very tasty. The vegetables were overcooked and the sauce was flavorless. To make matters worse, they tried to overcharge us. They had added an extra £1 to each main dish and the drinks were priced at £2.90 for a bottle and £2.20 for a small glass of coke. The total written on the bill was £6.75, which I had to question twice. They seemed displeased when making corrections. When they returned with the revised bill, they claimed they had given us a special discount, but the bill was still incorrect. It is important to carefully review your bill and use a calculator to confirm the total.

The restaurant had a few tables occupied, but we were somehow overlooked for 25 minutes. It took an additional 10 minutes for us to receive our drinks. Our food order was taken, but it took 45 minutes for it to arrive, despite being a small order. Several other patrons who arrived after us were served and received their food much sooner. The staff seemed to be ignoring us and were very slow. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with the experience.
