The owner had recently opened and was clearly super excited to share his food and knowledge with us. He explained everything on the menu, recommended amazing wine and even suggested an off menu pasta dish of fresh lemon pasta with courgette and sage sauce which was one of the best pastas I've ever had. We tried some organic wine which was really good, had local panzerottini to start (deep fried calzone style dough so goooood), bruschetta and olive ascolane, two mains of pasta that were incredible and super fresh and home made dessert. Amazing for all diets we're vegetarian but they even had vegan options. Also loved that you can mix and match the pasta type and the sauce. Menu was really well done and the place also looked amazing for having a drink later in the evening. The best part was the owner, who was just so lovely and welcoming and made us feel super relaxed we had almost a 2 hour lunch and enjoyed every minute. We wish him the best luck and thank him for everything! Best meal of our holiday by far.
We visited three times during our stay in Bari a week after this lovely restaurant opened! Giuseppe the head chef was SO helpful my other half is vegan and this was no problem. Wine was chosen by the staff to go with what we ate it 's very reasonable so you don 't need to panic about the price and there were some amazing discoveries as 'natural ' wine is served. I had the Petracavallo Fiori wine which was like nothing I 'd ever tasted quite bonkers. Cocktails great too if we return to Bari we 'll make a beeline to Pietra.
