Why the Complaints. On our long weekend break in Bundaberg, we wandered out to Bargara for Sunday brunch and a day on the beach. There were a few places open, but Salt tempted us with its shade, view of the ocean and inviting atmosphere. Firstly let me say I am surprised at the complaints about service service for us was warm and friendly, attentive and quick. Perhaps they read their reviews and have upped the ante but on the day we were there we had a lovely pleasant waitress and also a quick chat to a woman whom appeared to be the owner everyone couldn't have been more friendly. On to the food. Firstly I ordered a chai latte and hubby his usual flat whit e both came out in good time, were hot and my chai was wonderful ... not too sweet like so many made on syrup are these days. For brekkie I ordered the smashed avo, ricotta and cherry tomatoes on sourdough with bacon delicious. A lovely big serve of bacon (not this one rasher business) and in all I was really happy with my choice. But hubby had the pick of the day and I had serious food envy with his sausages, eggs and toast. The sausages were two lovely big sausages cue in half long ways and cooked to perfection with onion gravy, perfectly soft poached eggs and toast I snaffled a bite and yummmmm. Seriously have this for brekkie. In all a lovely meal with warm service and should we find ourselves back in Bargara (and the plan is a week sometime soon as it's a gorgeous spot) will see us back at Salt for sure.
Average service, average food. I have visited Salt twice and hoped the second time my experience may be better. The best part is the view of the ocean. It is such a great location and not much competition. I really hope they put more effort into their staff to improve their service. We really need them.
This restaurant has a classy appearance in contrast to the relaxed beach atmosphere. It's a beautiful spot to enjoy a meal and coffee while looking out over the beach.
Holidays are not complete without lazy weekend breakfasts, and Salt at Bargara has found the perfect spot with its beachfront location, just a short walk from the kid's 'Turtle Park' and boutique shopping. As frequent visitors to the area, we were aware of the limited dining options in Bargara, so we were not surprised to find the restaurant busy. Despite a bit of a wait for a table and some absent wait staff, the coffee and breakfasts were delicious. However, we were disappointed with the service overall. While the food was great, the experience was marred by the lack of attentive staff. Overall, it cost $80 to feed two adults and two kids breakfast.
