Carpe Diem - BARDOLINO

Unfortunately the man serving us had clearly got out of bed in the wrong side...he seemed genuinely angry about something. It could have been that he was short of staff ...he seemed to be managing on his own....commendably well. That said the snack type food was OK...of course not cheap ...these places on Lake Garda tend to be expensive. So it 's not a definitely never go there report, it 's just that we are so used to pleasant service in Italy that it comes as a surprise when things ... from a service point of view .....fall short. The manifestation was having asked if it was possible to have some balsamic vinegar, and 'our man ' then indicating that none was available ...only to find it sitting on a table just inside the door...strange and unexplained despite people in our party being fluent in Italian. Let 's just assume that was just a blip on a very busy day in Bardolino.

Ate here today ..my husband and son went off to explore and I stayed to settle the bill...although the service and food had been delivered without the hint of a smile I politely asked for the bill ! I asked if I could pay by credit card 'have you no cash ' he asked I replied that I did but would prefer to pay by card. Breath taken by his response and tone I followed him in and asked if he was the manager/owner? With a view to a complaint , his response IN ITALY WE SPEAK ITALIAN I told him we had ordered etc in Italian Point is DO NOT HAVE YOUR MENU IN ANY LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ITALIAN Bardolino this person has embarrassed you and your country Date of meal today time around 2pm Thoughts please of either the owner and or manager

...which we revisited quite a lot of times to have their splendid local wines! I think that we kept returning there says it all, doesn't it? I am leaving comments only about their excellent wines because that is what we especially went to Carpe Diem for.

Lovely café, good service, very friendly, try the Piadine they are delicious, nice filling and plenty of it, good quality food, good drinks menu too, the coffee is good

It was a red hot day so we stopped off here for a nice drink. Menu was good and nice seating area in amongst the shops. German been was cold and tasty. A nice little bar/pub when in Bardolino.
