I was surprised how exceptional my Meat Dish of Lamb was in a Seafood Restaurant. Not the Cheapest but never complain if the food is exemplory.
This restaurant is on Passeig Juan de Borbon on Barceloneta which a street filled with touristy seafood restaurants, all with greeters trying to usher you in. This is normally a big warning sign, but my friends and I ended up being very pleasantly surprised by our meal here. We all ordered from the Menu Del Dia three courses and a large glass of wine for €11.90. I started with the Chocos Fritos, fried cuttlefish it was decent but not enormously flavourful and I had hoped for more from this dish. My main was the arroz negro a seafood rice dish coloured and flavoured with squid ink, and this was absolutely delicious. I had never tried this dish before, but I'll definitely be having it again. The rice takes a very pleasant seafood flavour from the ink, and the seafood that was cooked in with it all tasted delicious. I took a slice of watermelon as my dessert, and it was exactly what you'd hope for, fresh and full of juice. The white wine that washed the food down was very good also. Service was excellent our waiter especially had a very friendly and welcoming personality. We dined outside, and there's a very lively atmosphere all along this Barceloneta street. I really enjoyed my lunch here, and you just can't beat it for value. I would be more than happy to dine here again.
There was terrible service, unknown prices of beverages until we got bill, average pizza for high price. We wouldn´t recommend this restaurant.
Normally I shy away from restaurants with pictures of food advertising each dish on the menu but I'm so glad I didn't let this put me off! I've now eaten here three times during several visits to Barcelona and have had great food each time. The chicken paella takes a while to arrive as everything is made from scratch but it's worth it as it's pretty delicious! The only confusing thing we have found and why it's taken me a little while to write a review, is that the name of the restaurant these days is Sabor de Mar rather than Sapore di Mare. No idea why the name change or indeed why it happened but nontheless it's a good place to eat! Don't be put off by the fact it has someone standing outside trying to entice you in, and don't be put off at it's location at the top of a long strip of restaurants. The food is good, the price is good, the service is good and there really is a huge choice of dishes. Give it a go!
The worst paella, the worst starters, the worst fish ever eaten... Paella is like mortar/cement, heavy and without flavour or taste... Very expensive! ! ! BAD BAD BAD
