But absolute worst thing was after I was done eating, I sat 10 15 min waiting for my waiter to get my check. I thought to myself, ok things are slower in Spain than in the USA I can be patient. Finally, I saw him walk past the door. I figured he must have had to use the restroom or something and would be coming by shortly. I sat for another 5 10 min, and he still didn't show. Then, to my shock, I saw him inside the restaurant, sitting at a table, eating his dinner!! I immediately got up furious and asked the first staff member I saw what was going on... did that guy quit or something?!! He said he'd get me my check. Meanwhile, I stood in window staring at waiter waiting to get his attention. Next thing I know the waiter that said he'd bring me my check is bringing another table some food! I was incredulous. A couple other staff members walked towards me. I thought for sure one of them was bringing me my check. But no, they walked right on by me. I couldn't believe it. After a couple more minutes, I started to walk away never in my life have I dined and dashed (I didn't dash). The 2nd waiter ended up chasing me down, and I paid. But that experience absolutely ruined my last night in Spain. There's another spot just up the beach, Xiroi, that was terrific!!
We were at the La Barcelona beach and stopped here for a couple of drinks. This is right at the beach, you can take one step and you will find yourself at the beach. We did not order much, just cold coffee. We chilled, enjoyed the view of Beach from here. That's it. It was really great. Nice relaxing time in the midst of taking tours.
Pretty cool spot on the beach. We ordered the lobster seafood pot, and it was delicious. The lobster halves and calamari were grilled then add to the rest of the seafood in the pot. We were able to almost finish the pot by ourselves. Keep in mind that this is not their famous paella. We order the lobster paella for dinner. The lobster wasn't as big as the one from lunch. The flavors from the paella was totally on point.
Great views of Nova Icaria Beach since it's right on the beach, but also makes it sort of a tourist trap. We ordered the fried squid, and food was good but nothing super special and the price was alright. But the kicker was the melon sangria we ordered. We've gotten some pretty good sangria around Barcelona but this was... interesting. It literally tasted like melon sugar syrup and it was obnoxiously green, and I was not a huge fan. Service was good. Overall a good experience.
Stopped for drinks and that was fine. One of many (perhaps 100s) beachside cafes and tapas joints. This one invited with shades of white and shaded open seating looking into the blue Mediterranean.
