Mother's Kitchen - Bar Harbor

My husband and I got married at MDI on July 15, and we were searching for a place to have lunch for our large wedding party on the morning of our big day. Many people, including competitors, recommended Mother's Kitchen as the best sandwich shop on the island. We were thrilled when Tasha and her team agreed to prepare 32 sandwiches and two large salads for us! The ordering process was quick and easy, and Tasha was incredibly responsive, assuring us she would reach out via Facebook if anything came up. On the day of the wedding, our bridesmaids and groomsmen couldn’t stop raving about how amazing the sandwiches were. Any leftovers from noon were served at the after-party a few hours later. We are visiting from California and would eat here every day if we could everything was fresh and yum. The quality comes through. We loved the variety of vegetarian options and the outdoor seating area is an idyllic respite from the crowds of downtown bar harbor.

Great little sandwich shop. On line ordering was easy and everything ready for pick up. Sandwiches were so good and interesting.! Recommend picking some up before going into Acadia and then eating at one of the many picnic areas in the park.

We enjoyed yummy sandwiches, muffins and lattes twice here on our recent trip to Acadia. Really friendly staff. Picnic tables including some under a tent. We'll definitely be back!

On my next visit, we enjoyed the Summer Kitchen sandwich, filled with smoked turkey, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and creamy dill sauce on sourdough. This sandwich was beautifully crafted and rated a solid 4. We also ordered the Cold Kitchen sandwich, which had smoked turkey, bacon, cranberry sauce, lettuce, and mayonnaise on sourdough. This one received mixed reviews. My niece adored it, especially the filling and cranberry sauce, which she described more like a chutney. My other sister liked it for similar reasons but found the stuffing a bit overwhelming (perhaps too much sage?) and thought the cranberry sauce was too wet. Personally, I preferred the Summer Kitchen sandwich, but the Cold Kitchen was still quite good, so I’d give it a rating of 3.5 to 4. I highly recommend Mother's Kitchen for a wonderful homemade sandwich or salad. It does get quite busy on nice days when everyone is looking to grab a picnic for the beach, but don’t worry—you can call ahead to place your order for pickup. And if you're in a hurry, the pre-packaged tabbouleh salad comes highly recommended!
