We had soup of the day - chicken noodle which was laden with shredded chicken and a fettuccini type of noodle. It was delicious. We then shared a delicious duck and hoysin pizza.
This place was stunning, the views of the green hills in front was a great way to enjoy the sun and delicious wine. We got a platter which was very delicious however could have had few more cheese on it, and also a pizza from their pizza oven and it was amazing.
As returning diners we decided to have lunch here last Sunday with friends. Firstly the vegetarian options for our friend was good. We didn't have to wait for our food, my husband had the scotch fillet steak, which was cooked to perfection, served with shoestring chips and greens and a red wine jus, all of which he totally demolished!!! I had the lamb shoulder, roast potato, peas and mint sauce A4 pizza, absolutely gorgeous. The 2 man band in the background added to the enjoyable time we had there. Excellent coffees, too full for dessert!! The service from all the staff was first class. We love that the entrance is via the new cellar door area and with chairs outside there, the view can be digested too!!! Value for money.
Told to be there for 2:30 lunch....didn't get seated approx 2:45 OK I guess when you have maybe up to a 100 plus people....at 3:40 everyone else had food on there tables but us. We were right up the back...maybe they don't go that far. After asking twice grazing plate arrived, children's meals arrived just after, they were supposed to be handed out first...next pizzas, reasonable, everyone by now have either started or finished main meal...finally main platters arrive, for 16 people 1 chicken and roast beef, the roast pumpkin and potatoes. We're actually nice if they were warm...some of the chicken so dry not worth trying to eat and quite a bit of fat on the beef which limited the amount of beef to share. IF you are providing a meal for large numbers you need to work out how you arrange your staff to serve tables. Getting fresh plates for mains might have been nice as we had nowhere to put the leftovers...no condiments available...when we finally caught a waiters eye she did go and provide some black pepper...I'm not sure if we were an after thought or they ran out of food which could explain the lack of meat available...The heater in our back section wasn't or broken, it was warmer at the front of the room. THe room is a winery of course, but concrete floors and tin shed with inadequate heating doesn't help... For $80 a head not including any drinks very very poor standard. ON a positive your views are stunning you need to work this better...Would we be back, no....
We asked when booking for somewhere we could talk and just as well we did. A singer and a full house meant we needed to be at the back of the bistro to hear one another. The ambience was pleasant (too cold to sit outside and take in the delightful vineyard views), but meals were costly for average fare. Two tender black angus steaks (and I know they are expensive) came with (cold) shoestring fries and a handful of mixed salad greens to be sprinkled from a small jug with balsamic vinegar. Not good enough for $38.Others in our party were dissatisfied with their crumbed flathead tails (obviously pre-packaged), also served with shoestring fries, but a more interesting feta salad ($32). The wood-fired pizzas seemed popular and maybe that is what we should have chosen. House wines were reasonable and the coffee was excellent. Waiters were friendly, but inexperienced.
