Eiscafe Bassanese - Bamberg

The fruit ice cream has too much ice, i.e. nit creamy, with under-average service. Too expensive. My recommendation: Go to Rewe, a supermarket nearby to buy all the ice cream you can get.

In the evening here to get my sweet tooth satisfaction. The server was pleasant, the after 8 and dark chocolate flavors were good together, and the sugar cone was ok. Sometimes they shine and sometimes they are just okay. They were okay at night.

Bassanese is the place to stop every afternoon in warm weather for a perfect ice cream refreshment. Centrally located, always on the way to visit Bamberg!

I walked in this afternoon for a double scoop of ice cream. First off, the price for the regular flavors are just like another ice cream parlor on the Obere Bruecke, so that was fine, and they have some special flavors for .20 more per scoop, and they seemed interesting, but the waffle cones are just small sugar cones, and the ice cream was so 'creamy that it was almost melting off the cone. All the flavors were very soft, so didn 't hold their shapes, plus the scoop size was much smaller than others I have had. The coffee flavor was bland, and the peppermint was also bland. I will never go here again. The server was fine, but I just spent 2.40 Euros for nothing special.

We took a break from sightseeing in Bamberg to enjoy some beautiful and delicious ice cream sundaes. I am not sure that the address on this listing in correct since the map I had looks more like it was on Karolinenstrasse, just before the bridge, but the name matches what I wrote in my journal. The napkins said Bassanese el Geato Bon . My husband and I ate our sundaes in the outside seating area and then ordered some takeout sundaes for our older kids that were out and about shopping. We got stopped several times asking where we got the ice cream because the sundaes look so yummy....makes me wish I took photos. It was the best ice cream we had while travelling throughout Germany and we will be back here on our next visit. Be sure to take lots of photos of the beautiful town and bridges while here!
