La Locanda Del Barone - BALSORANO

This was the perfect end to our first day in Abruzzo, from a very long challenging hike followed by a well deserved spa respite at Hotel La Reserve Terme. We changed into our nicer, clean clothes for this dinner.The restaurant is charming and our dinner was served in an all windowed dining room overlooking the beautiful gardens. There should be words other than delicious, amazing, tasty, but this was as fine a gourmet dinner you could have in any cosmopolitan city, Rome, Milan, and New York. Our small group ladies tour savored every morsel from the beautifully cooked cod in a purple potato puree appetizer to a heavenly pistachio dessert with a hard shell filled with gelato. Let 's just say, we wanted to lick every plate clean.This was the first dinner in Abruzzo, where I commented, this was the best dinner of my life, in all 72 years and 5 trips to Italy. The group laughed every time I made this comment throughout the 8 days. I am sorry I don 't have food pics but we were so tired and hungry, we just devoured every course. Even if you have to drive a little out of the way from where you are located, it is not to be missed!

It was a very unbelievible dinner. Food= genuine People= kindly genuine Ambient= romantic and friendly We got dinner on the last day of the year and we spent time eating very beautifull food in medieval place, singing and laughing with the Menestrello . It was very amazing. I 'd like to go again soon. I recommend it for couples, families and single too you cannot get borried

The setting was nice and romantic. The hostess was very nice and she recommended some really tasty dishes.

This small, family run restaurant, placed at the gates of Balsorano Vecchio castle, is a great combination of an ingenious cook and his wife, a plastic artist. The result: both food and decoration are piece of art. It is one of those small, hidden places where you can enjoy an excellent and unique meal. You can find here home made pasta (witch is a must in any Italian respectable locanda), original recipes cooked with local and seasonal ingredients, and excellent deserts. Everything is fresh and delicious.
