Olive Grove Delicatessen - Ballarat

Passing through Ballarat and called in for take away coffees, haven't been here for years. Usually delicatessens have beautiful coffee, but ours were terrible! So weak, tasted like milk and hot water, very disappointed. I've cut back to one espresso a day, so I've got fussy and want my one coffee to count.

We were in town for a meeting, had spare time and needed a coffee! What a find, exceptional coffee and deli, unbelievable food and the staff (family owned for 22 years) made us feel like part of the family. It was closing time and a staff meeting was about to start, we were not only served coffee but also some exceptional food plus afforded shelter from the outside elements (cold and windy) until our next meeting in 2 hours time. We ere checked in on occasionally but only because they were checking to see if we need anything. Well worth the stopover, and to try the partly homemade food as well as the delicious salami and cheese platter. Great job team - will definitely be back whenever I am in Ballarat.

On a cold wet day in Ballarat we found this wonderful delicatessen / cafe - delightful ambience and customer service and delicious food. You can buy house made soups and pastas to take home and there is a wonderful selection of cakes We had a lovely hearty meal on a cold day!

Some friends from work and I were meeting at The Olive Grove at 3:45 on a Friday afternoon. I ordered some coffees but when I asked for some dips and bread off the menu, they said the kitchen was closed. How difficult can it be to put some dips on a plate? There were cakes, but nothing more than this. So while we only ended up having coffees, the staff were cleaning and getting ready to close the place. This didn't make for a relaxing get - together. The prices are high at this place, and since we can't get anything more than cake at 3:45pm on a Friday, I'd suggest you go somewhere else.

Coffee and a light bite to eat was the goal and it was just what we received. Minimum of fuss, quickly served, fresh and the quality was good.I'll visit again as there were options on the menu I'd like to sample after trying a simple sandwich done well.
