Maui Pho - Bakersfield

For my first time there, it was pretty good. Order the pu-pu platter

The food here is delicious. They have pho in their name, but really, in my opinion, their other dishes outshine their pho. Steve's Special is a must because of their salt pepper shrimp, a little spicy, crunchy on the outside, but perfectly cooked inside. The prices are spot on for what you get, and in comparison to other restaurants in the area, Maui Pho will save you some money.

Maui Pho never misses with their food in my opinion. I got the M5 which comes with Salt Pepper Shrimp, 2 Teriyaki Chicken skewers, Macaroni Salad and Steamed Rice. The shrimp is hands down my favorite item there. The flavor is kind of simple but so good. The service was a little slow but in their defense it was a pretty full house. The atmosphere is the only thing that could use work. The whole dining area is completely open and some of the booths are connected to other diners which makes everyone seem too close to one another. It makes it hard to enjoy your food and have a conversation with your table because there are sometimes people so close that they can hear every word. But that's minor in the grand scheme of things. The food is great!

Service and atmosphere were great however food took forever to get made, it was expensive for portion sizes, and my Loco Moco was cold. But there is nothing like a taste of my Ohana home on Maui! I will be back. Maybe next time I will order ahead or just eat there.
