La Calamita - BAGNASCO

We stop here more and more often on our way from our house in Liguria to our home in Torino. The main attraction is still the pizzas from the woodfired oven you see a lot of pizzas going for take away as well! But they do have a full menu and both the pasta and meat dishes are lovely as well. Prices are more than reasonable, certainly cheeper than both Torino and Imperia.

We had pizza and dessert. Both pizza's were baked well, good crust. Although the pizza's taste nicely, the ingredients could have been better (fresh). Prices are very reasonable. About € 20 for 2 pizza's, 2 glasses of wine and 1L of water.

La Calamita is a nice typical Italian pizzaria and since it's conveniently on the way from our house in Liguria and our home in Torino we stop here for dinner occasionally. The main attraction is the woodburning oven which adds a delicious flavour to the pizza. But the prices are certainly reasonable as well: two pizzas, two 1/2 litre waters and a small draft beer for 20 euro.

The village of Bagnasco lies along the road to the Col di Nava , an alternative way to reach the Liguria region and the seaside from southern Piemonte, driving through the mountains. The surroundings are very well known for the very good quality mushrooms and chestnuts that colud be cropped in the cliffy woods and forests. Just in case you might feel hungry around the place, a perfect choice for a rest is the Pizzeria La Calamita (the magnet). Here it is possible to taste by far the best pizza in this area. The owner and pizza chef Marco Fonso masters the dough and different ingredients (all particularly fresh and tempting) assembling perfect pizzas of all kinds, even bespoke following the patrons ' request. For instance, you could try the Tronchetto casertano or the creative Flight Case suggested to the chef by the world famous rock drummer Paolo Sburlati who is a frequent customer of these premises. Beside pizza, there is a pretty good choice of other foods, for instance juicy angus beef steaks. Prices are very honest. Worth a try, or even a dedicated trip.
