Niu Nou is a eco and gastronomic restaurant located in the little town Bagà, which is located in Pyrenees Region, in the North of Berga, in Catalonia. We came here to do a fantastic winter eco-menu. I could taste the following dishes: little tasting of cheeses as starter, Reindeer meat carpaccio with salad, cheese and nuts, and mashed potatoes, sweet potato, carrot and onion as first dishes; cod, onion, olive sauce and egg, and stewed build boar with chocolate, orange and local fortified alcohol as main dishes; and a cake and an ice-cream as dessert. Really all was excellent. Also, I drank a red wine of Berguedà (non wine region) and surprisingly it was very good (a wonderful and different recommendation of the waiter). My daughter (7 years old) enjoy with his dish with chicken and our same ice cream. And the staff was very friendly. A very recommendable experience in a little town.
We discovered this unique Slow Food restaurant on one trip to Puigcerda and were delighted by the concept, the food quality, their wonderful hospitality and service. Their menu has to be explained because it’s all based in traditional (medieval) cooking. It’s tasty and unique. Absolutely worth the trip.
This small restaurant is managed by a couple who is in love with natural and slow food. They recover old recipes with close and natural meals. Excellent dishes at a very good quality/prize ratio.
