The George, Hintlesham - Babergh

The food was first class, the staff were friendly and efficient and there was a welcoming ambiance. we have been regular diners for over four years and will certainly continue to do so.

Lovely pub and the service and staff were excellent and they knew their menu and their ales etc really well. We all chose different dishes and they were all great.

Went for Mother’s Day so expected it to be busy. Generally the food was ok I had the smoked salmon to start which was nice and the horseradish source I have to say was really impressive For main I had roast pork, which was nice but served with 5 tiny roast potatoes that where clearly frozen. The desert again was ok, I had apple crumble but served with fake cream which spoilt it. The staff where very rude and offered no personality what so ever. First time I’ve been in 10 years and certainly won’t be going back again.

We have been going to the George for years and have always had good meals and service, that`s why i took 21 friends last year for a Christmas meal. After todays rude hissy fit from the lady owner we wont be returning. My wife and I called in for lunch as we had done many times and the owners do recognise us with a smile and we ordered 2 roast beef dinners which arrived quite quickly after our drinks. The owners wife appeared after a few minutes to see if all was ok and i asked if we could 2 steak knives as the meat was really hard to cut. She said that no one had complained all day and said she would change the beef for something else which we declined as we had eaten most of the potatoes and veg and thought it not fair and that it was just an unfortunatly bad cut of meat. when we went to pay, again she was very abrupt and said she would deduct the drinks which i was happy to do. She was quite agietated and i said it was hard to see into a joint before cutting it and understood. with this she screwed up the bill and thought it over her shoulder and said Well, the lunch is on me and have a good day . She was obviously having a bad day, but to speak to us in the rude manner to returning costumers was totally uncalled for. It upset us so much that we will not be returning nor recommending.

We called in on the off chance of getting a table on Sunday lunchtime. They had a table spare. My wife had roast pork I had roast beef. Both meals were delicious. The plate itself was hot, so that meant the dinner stayed hot right through the meal. Good size portions plenty of different varieties of vegetables. The service was excellent.
