Contribuiți la feedbackI've heard about this restaurant for quite some time, and I finally got to visit it with the friend who kept insisting I give it a try. The decor is fairly simple, featuring a nice mural of the swamp on one wall. The service was a bit slow since we arrived around 3 PM. The food was decent, but not quite as amazing as I had been led to believe. I ordered the Dunkin Catfish and was really looking forward to it. The strips of catfish were tasty but a bit small. The etouffee sauce was also a bit lacking in richness. Overall, it was good, but I've had better in the valley.
I?m new and because I love Cajun food and from the NO I know you shouldn?t be passing off gumbo like this. Can chicken, sausage wasn?t cooked and the sauce taste like gravy. Nothing about it was Cajun at all. Maybe the real cook wasn?t there but it was aNO for me!!!
Fantastic food and exceptional service. If you're craving Cajun cuisine, this is the spot in the West Valley to satisfy that hunger. We ordered the Catfish Po'boy, which turned out to be the best sandwich I've ever had. The étouffée was rich and flavorful, while the chicken and sausage gumbo was a classic delight. The jambalaya was both hearty and full of taste. The beignets, on the other hand, were a bit greasy and had a peculiar flavor—perhaps the oil was old? It's hard to say. I encourage you to give it a try and see for yourself; it might have just been an off day. Overall, the Po'boy truly stole the spotlight; the bread was so incredible that I devoured the entire thing. The gumbo was exactly what you'd expect, and I can assure you won't be let down. The étouffée and jambalaya are far superior to many food trucks around town serving lackluster meals. I’m definitely planning to return.
Went with a pretty large party (21) for an early reserved lunch. There were 2 tables and somehow table #1 received all beverages while table 2 had nothing. Orders were taken and submitted at the same time, so the food arrived hodge podge and out of order. The restaurant decor was pretty basic, not too much decorative to give a feel of NOLA or Louisiana but there was a banner, analligator head statue, and a sign near restrooms that had New Orleans. Food was okay. Catfish was well seasoned but I was prettysad that they did not carry grits. ???? The pricing was far and the server was helpful each time she was asked for somethingfor the 2nd or 3rd time. I probably won't return since no alcohol is served
**Longer Version:** A couple of Saturdays ago, we stopped by around 4:30 PM. There was a "Please wait to be seated" sign, which seemed amusing since the spacious restaurant had only one other customer. We noticed three employees chatting in the back. We were seated quickly, which was a plus. I appreciated the decor, but the temperature inside made me wonder if the air conditioning was broken. The first issue arose when we ordered sweet tea, only to be served unsweetened tea with sugar packets. Why feature sweet tea on the menu if it’s a DIY option? If it’s listed as sweet tea, it should come that way automatically. The second red flag was with the appetizers. The plate we received was dirty, the fried green tomatoes were extremely thin (with more crust than tomato), and the hushpuppies lacked flavor. Even butter couldn’t salvage them. My sister enjoyed her sausage po'boy and Cajun fries, although the fries had lost their warmth; we noticed they sat on the counter for some time before being served. I ordered the red bean bowl, but it too was disappointing and bland. The spicy sausage was hardly noticeable and did little to enhance the flavor. I also noticed some beans had what appeared to be a dry outer growth on them. To be fair, I’ve never lived in Louisiana, so perhaps that’s how it’s supposed to taste. However, when I think about the meals we've had at Baby Kay's, there’s simply no comparison. If I want Cajun food again, I’ll be choosing Baby Kay's over Flavors of LA.
