I used to live near a Dickies pre-Covid and went frequently, but boy have things changed. The cost has really gone up.My boyfriend and I came in for lunch at noon on a Saturday. The place was empty and I thought they had just opened because the drink and condiment section looking like it was missing some things. Surprisingly they had already been open for an hour.We ordered 2 two-meat plates $18 ea , 2 drinks $4 ea and 4 extra cups of sauce $0.75 EACH . Imagine my surprise when the bill came out to $50. Yes, $50 for LUNCH for 2 people at a casual dining establishment. When I got the receipt I was surprised to see that they charge for sauce now. The employee asked us Which sauces would you like? . I thought they just kept them behind the counter like at McDonald 's or they haven 't put them out onto the condiment table yet. He never mentioned that our plate automatically comes with 1 original sauce, or that they now charge for them or that they 're almost a dollar each. I also wanted to switch out my Texas toast for cornbread, but they didn 't have any defrosted thank goodness I wasn 't able to since that would have been an upcharge too! .Our food arrived quickly, but was cold. It arrived to us at room temperature, but with the cold sauce on top, it tasted like it just came out of the fridge. Things just continued to get worse. They brought out the wrong kielbasa for my boyfriend AND tried to short us a sauce that we paid for! . The employee said he didn 't like the look of the other [jalepeno] sausage so he brought out the normal kielbasa for him. Meaning they knew it was not what we ordered but tried to pass it to us anyway. After bringing up everything to his attention, he cooked us a new jalepeno sausage, brought an extra sauce on top of the one we paid for and gave us a frozen cornbread in apology.I appreciate him trying to make it right at the end, but honestly there 's nothing that could save this experience for me. I felt like the employees behavior overall was sloppy and the price was prohibitively expensive. If my choice is Dickeys BBQ or a nice sit down restaurant, I 'm definitely going to choose the restaurant every time.
I’ve been twice before everything was great. But this last time it was a waste of money. I paid 20 bucks for a two meat platter and received less than a cup of dry bland brisket and two ribs, one of them was merely a bone with no meat on it. The green beans are typically tasty but this time they were extremely salty, mushy and overcooked.I would hope that this was just a one-off experience but I’m not sure I’m willing to try it again after this more experience.
This place is so good and I don’t usually see a lot of people here which is surprising. This is quality bbq(pulled pork sandwich is my favorite, make sure to eat with coleslaw on top of sandwich). I believe the service person was named Bolina, she was great. They have some good vibes that remind me of being in the Midwest.A slice of Midwest bliss.
The food is amazing I ordered two 2 meat plates with the chicken and brisket and the sides are so good I got the fried okra and potato salad. I highly recommend this place
