Cruises Mireio - Avignon

We took the Thursday cruise to Arles back with the basic matelot meal. Good value at €43 senior. Pleasantly air conditioned boat with good views comfortable seats. The Rhone isn't exciting here but there is a ship lock and a couple of interesting fortified towns. Arles is an amazing Roman medieval town where we unavoidably only had 90 minutes. It's worth going back there for a few days.

Although everybody was provided with a free audio guide, it was the sort normally supplied in a museum, and didn't really work well outside. The display was difficult to see in the sun light, and of course there aren't any numbers on wall to help you synchronise the description. Just about everybody had abandoned the handset within the first half an hour. Otherwise, an enjoyable scenic trip albeit somewhat cooled by the Mistral wind blowing throughout.

Brilliant boat trip to the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape while enjoying a gourmet meal. The food accompanied by a bottle of declious Lirac wine and the service were excellent. Total relaxation and a perfect way to celebrate.

Our guide selected this restaurant. There must have been money under the table. Beautiful location, extremely poor service, mediocre meal. A tourist trap.

After a long tiring trip to the palace of Versailles, we were headed back to the city and were walking to the metro station.
