There is a spacious shaded outside area for the summer and a typical French bar interior with log fire in the winter and large TV for the sports enthusiasts. The chef is a very capable traiteur and produces what his clientele want which is wholesome food at affordable prices. It is the better option for those on a budget and for pilgrims on their way to Compostella. The staff are very friendly and speak a little English. We live nearby and eat there when we just want a relaxed meal in a friendly environment.
This local restaurant has been under new ownership since the beginning of the year and they are really trying hard. The meal at lunchtime, soup, hors D'oeuvre buffet, plat du jour, pudding and coffee with a glass of wine is excellent value at 14 euros
My wife and I were staying in Auvillar for a month and ate at the Alta Villa several times. The menu du jour is a little basic but great value at 12 euros 50. The staff were friendly and efficient, I would not hesitate in going back.
I had dinner here while staying at a nearby hotel. The menu de jour was cheap, well cooked and filling. I sat outside watching the locals playing petanque while using the free Wi-Fi. Excellent value for money.
