Star Seeds Cafe - Austin

My lovely wife and I heard about this place at St. David's Hospital. We stopped in for lunch and it was wonderful. I had the Quesadilla Burger and my wife had a BLT with avocado Both were full of flavor. Fries came with it and were fried perfectly. We will go again!!

I drive past Stars all the time and finally stopped in to see what it had to offer. At first glance, the restaurant looks sketchy and we almost walked out but the server was super friendly and encouraged us to come in. We ordered some of their cocktails which weirdly are all made with Beatbox rather than liquor (seems like a workaround to have cocktails without a liquor license). Our server apologized as he gave them to us because he was new and wasn't sure how they'd be but they were actually very tasty! He later comped them because he was concerned they weren't great despite us reassuring him they were fine. While that part of the experience was a little different, the food was actually great! We both ordered burgers and really enjoyed them. Fries were great too! Overall I'd say don't judge a book by its cover and give Stars a shot if you're looking for a dive to get a good meal at (I've heard brunch is great too)

Stars cafe is an old rundown 24/7 option near downtown. Offering all of your favorite breakfast and lunch options. Our server was nice and the food was good. We got pancakes and the breakfast chorizo tacos. Chorizo was delicious and flavorful and prices are really reasonable. Definitely an older building that needs some maintenance done.

The good: Our server was so nice! He was quick to take our order, bring our drinks and food, and was just a pleasant guy. The food was good. Queso was tasty and had some peppers for a mild kick. My veggie burger was perfectly cooked. My husband had a huge breakfast spread with sausage biscuits, cheese grits, eggs, and chocolate chip pancakes. All of that was great. The cheese grits were very rich and did not skimp on the cheese. The bad: I think there is some kind of a plumbing pipe issue because there's a bad odor in there. The restrooms need a complete remodel. One of them had water everywhere, potentially the ceiling was leaking and letting the rain in. The other had the sink out of service. They just refurbished this restaurant about 5 years ago I think, but it's needing a deep clean now for sure.

I used to like this place but it's gone really downhill. I ordered the Cosmos sandwich on doordash and it was missing lettuce, tomato, bacon and cheese. Just two thin slices of Turkey, a tiny piece of avocado and some pesto for $14. Pretty shocking.
