Star Of India - Austin

A fantastic spot for lunch that's become a regular part of my weekly routine. They offer an all-you-can-eat buffet, and my glass of water is never empty. The food is consistently delicious, whether from the buffet or the menu.

This is not where you go if you want authentic Indian food. Tbh, this is my least favorite Indian place to go in Austin area. Everything tasted so bland or over salty. Nothing seemed fresh. Food options were limited but the price was not. I would prefer not to go back.

The food quality was below average. Some of the naans were burned, and none had any butter on them. The buffet lacked variety—there was no biryani or pulav, and the desserts were disappointing. The gulab jamun was cold and quite hard, and the aamras tasted like it came from a can. We won’t be coming back to this restaurant.

I visited for the afternoon buffet on a Saturday. The atmosphere was pleasant, and it wasn't very crowded. However, the food was disappointing and didn't cater well to Indian palates. The desserts were overly flavored with essence, which wasn't enjoyable. They charge $17 per person.

This is a sentimental favorite, being the first Indian restaurant I enjoyed when I moved here in the 00's. This has an enjoyable atmosphere, a good and varied buffet, and decent service. Not the best, but consistently solid
