Donn's Texas Bbq - Austin

I really enjoy the food at this restaurant, but I've noticed that the service has declined recently. Today, I spent $22 on half a pound of brisket and a small creamy coleslaw. Normally, I would say it’s worth it, but unfortunately, half of the meat consisted of plain fat, and the other half was overcooked and dried out, as if it had been sitting for hours. While it still tasted good, I can confirm that it wasn’t just one end piece; only about 2 out of the 6 slices were fresh. Additionally, the creamy coleslaw I received was not what I expected. Usually, I wouldn’t return to a place after a experience like this, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just a rough day for the kitchen.

I accidentally ordered a catering order to their other location, and they were so nice and helped me out. Got my full order remade and got me out the door quickly. So thankful! Plus the food was delicious!!

Great service. Went for lunch. Had sliced brisket plate and my friend had sliced brisket sandwich. We both got the potato salad and I got a side of pinto beans. Everything was hot and fresh. The brisket was very tender and the sauce was also nice.

We had an amazing breakfast here at Don’s. The food was great, and the portions are large, so you don’t need to order as much to breakfast tacos were more than enough. My oldest was asking when we were going to come back.

The restaurant was convenient, and the portion sizes were generous, particularly the meat portions, which were larger than those at many other barbecue places. The baked potato was massive, easily weighing a pound, and when topped with pulled pork, it was enough to last for two meals. I'm glad I decided not to eat on-site, as the tables, condiment area, and floors were in need of more than just basic cleaning and attention.
